The Christ of Christianity (1)
Ministering: Pastor I.S James
Title: The Christ of Christianity
Text: John 9: 1-
In this series we want to discuss the personality of God. Who is God?
God is a Spirit.
50 to 60% of what we present in our churches as God is not the God of the bible.
Jesus Christ’s claim was that HE IS GOD! And that was the very reason why the Jews killed Him. – John 8:53-59
It was totally unacceptable to them that a man whom they knew his origin (which of course according to them was not noble), would claim to be God – their Messiah!
Some key things about the Christ of Christianity:
1. HE CARES: do you feel abandoned and forgotten? God needs you to understand that HE CARES about you. He’s got the hairs on your head numbered. He’s too detailed not to take cognizance of you.
While Jesus was escaping from the mob that was about to attack him. From the 9th Chapter of John verse 1, despite the fact that his life was at stake, he still made out time to attend to a man born blind from birth.
They asked Christ who was responsible for the man’s blindness. They wanted to know if it was the man’s sin or his parents’.
Many times we come across disabled beggars or the less privileged in the society.
We ignore them because we feel they must have sinned or that they are responsible for their predicament. Anytime we respond this way, we are reflecting the same attitude the Jews reflected that prompted the question they asked Christ.
We need to remind ourselves that we live in a fallen world, a messed up place where you will never know what will come up next. Some of the people you find on the streets begging probably had things going for them before getting into one problem or the other.
You must not seek to find someone to blame for their situation. Rather you should be like Christ who instead of looking for who to blame, made it His responsibility to deliver the man out of that terrible situation.
He knows everything about you. He notices unnoticeable people. He takes notice of those that has been ignored. This is the direct opposite of the human capacity. We look for reasons not to take notice of others.
We fill up our schedule with so much activities that we don’t have time for those things that really matter. Our children today are being left behind in our priorities. If you don’t make out time for those children, you run the risk of raising derelicts.
You need to dare to live life more boldly and be more adventurous.
You say you want God to use you? How can He use you when you don’t even pay attention to the things He throws your way? – Opportunities to make a difference in the life of others.
Everyone needs attention. Women and children mostly crave attention. But the situation you’ll find is men that don’t pay attention to these wonderful things that God is doing in their lives. While we are busy chasing the things of life, we actually end up losing out in life according to God’s terms.
