The first part of this message can be summarized in this statement: Grace sees what religion can’t.
What made Jesus stop to touch a leper, when it was not lawful to do so in those times?
In biblical times, leprosy was considered more than just a disease; it was considered an affliction (Lev 13: 45-46)
Jesus (the Word made flesh, Who gave the law) could have healed/cleansed the leper without touching him. But He touched him all the same.
Jesus did this to show that He is in touch with our infirmities. As He knew with the leper, He knows what we’re going through
Matt 9:10 – 13 – Jesus was attractive to sinners. Why was this so & how can we Christians today be attractive to unbelievers too?
Jesus was attractive to Zaccheus (Luke 19:1-10) children in Luke 19 (Mark 10: 14). Why was this so?
Unless we become like children – totally non-discriminatory and non-judgmental towards others, we won’t be available for God’s use
Luke 7:36-40 – The pharisee’s attitude towards the woman here is one of judgment & hatred.
Christians today have become as judgmental & cynical as pharisees were in biblical times.
