Sunday Is Here!
Ministering: Pastor I.S James
Topic: Easter – Sunday Is Here!
Text: Matt. 26:31-40
Easter is a result of Good Friday – there’d be no Easter if there were no Good Friday. This time between Friday & Sunday was a trying one for the disciples.
When the disciples chose to follow Christ, they wouldn’t have envisaged the possibility of Good Friday occurring.
They probably chose to follow Christ because of the benefits and (possible) blessings that’d accrue to them from being associated with Him.
Friday symbolizes a day of weeping, one of tears, one where dreams are dashed.
I’m experiencing the pain of Friday now, what should I do?
The 1st thing you should note is that Jesus experienced the pain of Friday as acutely (if not more) than we do. (Heb. 4:15) What did he do?
- He reached out to His closest friends and poured out His heart to them. (Matt. 26:38)
- Invest in friendships when things are going well, you’ll need them when the “Fridays” of your life come by.
- A friend is someone you can say the things Christ said to His disciples. People you can speak to about your greatest pains in life.
- A friend is someone who’ll just be there for you in your time of need.
- He prayed. (Matt. 26:39)
- This isn’t the time to argue with anyone, instead spend your time praying & telling God about the situation.
Saturday symbolizes a period of confusion, grief, doubts and questions. What would God have me do on Saturday?
- This is the time to focus on the promises of God – focus on the “fear nots” in the Word of God. (Isaiah 43:1-4)
These three days symbolize the state of each person’s life. We will all pass through these periods in our lives.
When Sunday comes around, you need to know what it means. What does Sunday symbolize?
Sunday is the day of rejoicing, of dancing the day of “suddenly”, the day of shouting HALLELUJAH!
Sundays don’t seem to appear on the calendar of life, because we are too focused on our Fridays & Saturdays. The possible reason why Jesus appeared to a woman before the men was because the men were too focused & hung up on their Friday & Saturday, while the women were looking beyond the sorrow, grief & despair of these days. They were driven and compelled by their love for Christ.
We delay the arrival of our own Sunday by our excessive grieving & focus on our Friday.
Declaration: I stand in the name of Jesus and declare that the Sunday of your life has come!
Prayer/Declaration: I pray that the presence of God arise upon your life now in Jesus’ name.
