Text: Proverbs 1:7
Proverbs help us to live wisely & they help us with perception, helping us know the difference between truth & error.
Let’s look at 6 Nuggets For Wisdom for Life & Wisdom we need to learn & imbibe:
1. The fear of God. (Prov. 1:7, Ps. 111:10, Job 28:28)
· Speaking of “fear” we mean deep reverence & respect for God.
· The fear of God is out of love for Him. When you love God, you will want to and actually do the things that please Him and not grieve or anger Him.
2. Avoid bad friends (Prov. 1:10; 13:32; 27:19)
· Two things that determine your growth in life are your friends & the books you read.
· Walk with friends who will help you shape your destiny, not those who’ll draw you back. People who’ll challenge your faith.
3. Choose wisdom (Prov.1:20-23; 4:7)
· Wisdom is profitable to you; it will help you avoid the simple-minded, foolish & scornful people.
· You need wisdom to make right decisions in several areas of your life. You don’t need to learn from your own mistakes, you can learn from the mistakes those who have gone before you have made.
· Jesus is the fountain of all wisdom, ask Him questions about the decisions you need to make & trust Him to steer you right.
· Who’s the simple-minded person? That’s the person who can’t think for himself & follows every wind of doctrine.
· Who’s the fool? The fool is a person who’s listened to God’s wisdom, but hates & rejects it.
· Who’s the scornful person? The scornful person’s the person who doesn’t know a thing, but think he’s got knowledge of it.
