Topic: The Benefits That Accompany Salvation
Text: Rom. 6:23, John 10:10
1. The 1st benefit we receive from our salvation is the gift of pardon. You are pardoned and have forgiveness of sin(s).
2. The 2nd benefit of salvation, which we receive upon making the choice to follow Jesus, is the gift of power. Psalm 51:5 shows us that every person is formed in iniquity & born into sin, however Romans 8:1 tells us that those of us who have chosen to give our lives over to Jesus have pardon from the LORD. John 1:12, Matt. 24:29; 10:1-2 If/when we compromise our stand as children of God, we begin to lose access to the power of God we’re meant to have in our lives. The reason we are unable to defeat the Amalekites we’re battling in our lives is because we are suffering from power failure. Instead of compromising your stand in the marketplace (and thus lose the gift of power) you should tap into that power to beat temptation 3. The next benefit of our salvation is the gift of peace (Romans 5:1)
• Mark 4:35-37 – The presence of Jesus in your life is not a guarantee that of absence of storms. It’s that you’ll have peace in the midst of the storm 4. The next benefit is the gift of Joy (John 15:11)
• God wants us to have pleasures in life, but not at the expense of our relationship with Him. Any pleasure that’s going to cause you to return & apologise to God to be avoided.
• Salvation puts a dimension in our lives whereby we bring & provide joy to the lives of those around us. 5. The next benefit is the provision of God’s purpose in/for our lives. Salvation gives our lives purpose. (Eph. 2:10)
• We need God’s purpose in our lives to give us direction. Realise that you’re created for a certain purpose that’s ONLY found in God and nowhere else. So, in order for you to avoid abuse of (any part) of your life you’re meant to have God’s purpose in your life.
